This video is making the rounds, so I’m gonna do my part. This is a gripper made of a balloon, coffee grounds and an air supply. The balloon is filled with coffee grounds. When you blow air into the balloon, the coffee grounds space out a bit, and you plunk the balloon over something you want to pick up, letting the coffee grounds flow around your object and conform to its shape. Then, you suck the air out of the balloon, the coffee grounds squish together and hold the thing firmly. Pick it up, wave it around, and then blow air back in the balloon to drop it again. Frickin genius! If there’s not a make-off of this idea by the time I’m back in Boston, I’m doing it!
